Northeastern men’s basketball (16-14, 8-9 CAA) beat the North Carolina A&T Aggies (7-23, 3-14 CAA) 69-55 during the Huskies’ Senior Night game Feb. 27.
“I’m just really pleased with the outcome,” said head coach Bill Coen. “I thought we played a really super solid game. They’re a very difficult team to play against. They play at a very slow pace, so they kind of lull you to sleep a little bit. We had a couple of those moments where defensively, I kept urging our guys not to let their lack of pa...

First to fourth: Northeastern places last in the Beanpot tournament after chance to three-peat

Northeastern men’s hockey (9-14-3, 4-9-3 HE) sank from its 2024 champion title to claim last place in the 2025 Beanpot tournament, losing to Harvard University (8-13-2, 6-8-2 ECAC) 4-3 Feb. 10 after a penalty-ridden game.
“I thought five-on-five, we played pretty good hockey,” head coach Jerry Keefe said in the post-game conference. “I thought our mindset was good. I thought we had a good week of practice. But everything was just self-inflicted tonight for this group.”
The Huskies’ frustration,...

From working class to the wealthiest class: what five Northeastern alumni have to say about the university’s transition

Over the past several decades, Northeastern has expanded its empire by buying up smaller universities around the country and accepting students into alternate admissions programs such as Global Scholars and N.U.in. But the elite institution — where a mere 5.2% of applicants accepted to the Boston campus in fall 2024 — was much more inclusive several decades ago, Northeastern alumni say.
“Northeastern [was] a working class, working man’s university. That term was around [but] I don’t think they’d...

Boston College demolishes Northeastern in 8-2 Beanpot semifinal victory

The Boston College Eagles (20-4-1, 12-3-1 HE) delivered a painful blow to the three-peat-dreaming Huskies (9-13-3, 4-9-3 HE) Feb. 3 at TD Garden in a 8-2 Beanpot semifinal loss that didn’t let up in the third period.
“The game kind of settled in. It was back and forth. We were fortunate. We got a couple of huge saves to keep the lead. And then when we got some chances, we were able to capitalize. I didn’t feel like it was as lopsided as the score,” said Boston College head coach Greg Brown.

The force is not with Huskies in loss to Merrimack

The force failed the Huskies Jan. 25 when Northeastern men’s hockey (9-11-3, 4-8-3 HE) narrowly fell to the Merrimack College Warriors (10-13-1, 6-7-1 HE) 4-3 at Star Wars night in Matthews Arena.
“We just can’t make the mistakes we made in the second period,” head coach Jerry Keefe said post-game.“Terrible on the PK [penalty kill], stupid penalty, a faceoff loss for a goal.”
The first period opened with Merrimack immediately taking control of the puck, launching two shots in the first 30 sec...

The first game of the weekend was a fierce battle that was eventually sent into overtime, 2-1, while the second game leaned more in the Huskies’ favor, 3-2.
The first and second periods of Jan. 17’s game on the road in Burlington were scoreless as many shots went unfulfilled, the Huskies never quite able to reach the back of the net.
The Huskies were...

The Russell J. Call Children’s Center, located on the second floor of Kerr Hall, is a staff benefit av...

The Huskies only notched 46% successful field goals in the first half, but were able to improve to 57% in the second half. Northwestern significantly upgraded their success rate from 40% to...

Fantasy roundup Week 13: Breaking down the key takeaways

Week 13 saw many close contests. Twelve of the 16 games played this week were won by just one score. With many teams riddled with injuries, it’s no surprise that even some of the best teams in the NFL struggled this week. This week was for the league’s star quarterbacks, who put on stellar performances, often leading their team to victory.
Some teams saw their season go from bad to worse, and several were eliminated from playoff contention. The Buffalo Bills clinched the AFC East title, making t...

Fantasy roundup Week 11: Breaking down 5 key takeaways

Interceptions were crucial this week, clinching crucial victories for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Buffalo Bills. The Saints are finally starting to win games, something no one expected to see this season — including the players themselves. Talking about losing games, the Jaguars are missing Trevor Lawrence and the embarrassment that they allowed proves it.
Down go the Chiefs.
The Buffalo Bills handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season Nov. 17. The Bills Mafia came into t...

Fantasy roundup Week 10: Breaking down 5 key takeaways

One striking trend this season in the NFL is that offenses seemed to have cratered. The rise of defenses playing two-high safeties has been effective at limiting the big passing plays that previously seemed to be commonplace in the league. This is the fifth-straight year scoring has decreased, which led some to sound the alarm.
However, others point to the fact that many recent rule changes seemed to facilitate the offense and impede on defenses, so if the defenses can keep excelling, then cred...

The Northeastern men’s basketball team (1-1, 0-0 CAA) narrowly fell to Princeton University (3-0, Ivy League 0-0) Nov. 10 after a tough battle, 79-76.

Report: Cooper Kupp could be released by Rams this week

On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the L.A. Rams are planning to release Cooper Kupp after their attempt to trade the wide receiver. Such a move would allow potential suitors like the Patriots to pursue Kupp through money only, rather than via trade.

The Patriots were apparently not willing to give up draft selections in exchange for Kupp. New England does have enough salary cap space to attract the East Washington alum to join Drake Maye and the rest of the New England offense.

The former Patriots coach spent 15 non-consecutive years with New England. During his run from 2012 t...

Rich Ohrnberger recalled when Randy Moss thought he was a coach during his rookie season

On Julian Edelman’s podcast, “Games with Names,” Rich Ohrnberger remembered when Randy Moss thought he was a coach during his rookie season.

In 2009, Ohrnberger was drafted by the Patriots where Moss immediately started calling him ‘coach.’

“He gave me this nickname and it happened immediately,” Ohrnberger said. “I have no idea why, because we barely spoke to each other outside of passing by each other in the hallway or outside the meeting rooms or on the football field. You know, we’re on our...

McDaniels was rehired as the Patriots’ offensive coordinator after spending time with the team in variou...
